Nicola Behrman was born and raised in London. She was trained by and worked for the BBC before moving to New York
to work on Martin Scorsese's six part series THE BLUES. She wrote and presented the first video on divorce on children
in the UK entitled YOU'RE BOTH STILL MY PARENTS and is currently developing it for an American audience. Her first
film ZOOT CHICKS was developed with Capitol Films and Bard Entertainment in London and she was recently
commissioned to write the feature film, THE SEA BETWEEN, based on the true story of holocaust survivor,
Nanette Konig. She is the author of SPARK YOUR CAREER IN FILM a career guide to the film industry for Barnes and Noble, available May 2007.
She also writes features for the
Independent Newspaper in London and Moving Pictures Magazine in the US and was the associate producer on the successful documentary film
BRAINMAN. Nicola is a firm believer that a story should
dictate its own medium of expression and as such, she flows comfortably between the worlds of film, tv and theater.
Nicola is a member of BAFTA and is the co-founder of
Stellar Network, the transatlantic network of Film,
TV and Theater professionals in New York and London with Susan Sarandon, Jude Law and Anthony Minghella on its board.
After a successful reading at the Perry Street Theater in New York, Nicola's first play, WASPs IN BED,
premiered Off Broadway at the Beckett Theater, Theater Row, in September 2006.
She is currently writing and researching her next play, AMALIA'S MAN, a piece on Alzheimer's and false memory.
